Our next meeting is Saturday, 2/26/2011. We are doing things different this year.
In the past, when the group was smaller (about 7 members coming to a tasting) we would buy 7 bottles to try,all of equal value. This afforded us the chance try many whiskies, and each member got to take a bottle home. Since we are getting bigger (there will be at least 11 members this time) we just can’t do that.
So, we are getting 4 bottles to try and the cost is split those attending. After tasting and discussing each, we will then draw to see who will take home one of the bottles.
For this meeting we want to try 2 scotches matured in wine casks. There are several out there, but we are not sure at this time which ones it will be. The other two will be a blend and a bourbon (we think). We are thinking Barton’s Very Old Bourbon since Malt Advocate just rated it a “best buy”.
Stay tuned and we’ll let you know what we tried and what we thought of each.
