Review – John L. Sullivan Irish Whiskey

Posted by on September 29, 2011

Having been given a bottle of John L Sullivan Irish Whiskey, I decided to open the bottle and try it by myself before I shared it with my brothers in the River City Whisky Society.

This is a small batch Irish whiskey that is distinguished by being aged in “single use” Bourbon barrels.  I poured the whiskey over two ice cubes and immediately noted the vanilla on the nose, then more vanilla and then some citrus.  The oak struck me on the finish with nuts and little bit of spice.  The finish was long and brought out a slight hint of honey and cinnamon.  A very pleasant, smooth and satiny after dinner drink.
