I am writing to you from the 2010 Kentucky Bourbon Fest in Bardstown, KY. This is a week long celebration to a whiskey that is as american as baseball and apple pie, but with more of a kick. Richard and Robert Tucker (members #8 and #9) and I arrived on Wednesday the 15th of September and will be here until Sunday the 19th.
There are a number of events we have attended along with four distilleries we toured. This has been a great trip and very educational. For instance I learned that I tend to like bourbons with a small influence of rye rather than a larger influence or none at all. I also learned that traveling with the Tuckers is way different than traveling with my wife (enough said).
We have also met people from around the world. There is a gentlemen from Germany staying at our hotel who is an American Whiskey collector with nearly 2000 bottle to his collection. We have spent time with two gentlemen from Switzerland and have spoken with a film crew from Bourbonblog.com.
Again, this has been a great trip. I will include details and findings in blogs that I will be posting over the next several days. For now, it’s off to the evenings events.
