This whisky is unique in that it is from the southern most whisky distillery in the world. It was distilled in Dunedin, New Zealand shortly after which the distillery was closed. The casks were later bought by the New Zealand Malt Whisky Company and bottled.
Milford is a peated whisky that was aged in oak barrels. The nose reminded me of a gentle Islay scotch. The overall flavor was simple and young. The smoke and peat could easily be discerned but there was little else. There is a 15 year old expression on the market that probably addresses this one’s lack of complexity.
Milford 10 year old is not a bad whisky but it would not be my first choice on payday.
